[ Hyunki looks down at the plate, breaking off another piece of bread and shaking his head as he chews it, pushing the hammock to sway some more with a foot. It's very large, could easily fit four or five people, and so Hyunki curls up in the blankets, putting the plate by his side as he looks at Minsu. ]
No. He and Ros had to leave quickly for - diplomatic talks, negotiations, this kind of thing. Politics.
[ Hyunki already disliked politics, but even more now. ]
He had to leave right after we had our discussion - about having sex. It's very frustrating, but now that you and Neve and Ten have made me think it over, I really don't want anyone else to be my first.
[ He might be thinking my only. But nobody can prove it. He levels another look at Minsu, soft. ]
Ah, so even a nice picture wouldn't really help...
[and by "nice" he actually means "naked". he looks back at hyunki, giving him an encouraging smile.]
It's tough now, but I bet that makes it even better when he gets back. There's that saying about absence, you know?

I'm not as afraid of him as I was. [especially not after talking to hyunki, seeing his fond expression when he talks about him.] Humans scare easily sometimes. When I heard he had connections to the underworld and death, I guess I sort of panicked.
Yes, I am definitely looking forward to his return. And well, while he's gone, I have lots of time to study, which I should not complain about - he does tend to distract me immensely.
[ Hyunki can't help the way he smiles, just thinking about him. It feels like one of these silly things that he'd only read about or seen on TV, and yet the feeling was all too real. ]
Is this how you know that it's not an illusion? When you miss them, any moment you're not with them? I have never felt this way. I wonder if it's too much? If I'll scare him away by wanting too much of him.

He is a very gentle soul. What he does, his role in this world, well. It's a tough one. But it does not define him. You know, he loves food, just like you? He does. He'll be delighted by the strawberries, if they last until he's back.
[minsu nods at him, a soft smile on his lips. he likes listening to hyunki talk about it, about adder. it's nice to know that it's still a real thing in this world, even when minsu knows from his own feelings that it is.]
It can be a little scary to some people. [he still hasn't forgotten the panic on sage's face, the way he pushed him away. but the same thing that scared him is the same thing that brought him back. the same thing that keeps them together now.] But I know it'll be fine. Be honest about your own feelings. I think that's always the most important thing.
[he slides down into the hammock a little more, getting comfortable and smiling again.]
I'll make sure that some are saved for him. I wonder if he likes sweet or savory better?
So far, it's felt to me like Adder and I share these feelings. Like we are both a little overwhelmed by them, but are not trying to deny them. It's as new for him as it is for me, but he's had - a lot more time to get used to being alone.
[ Hyunki nods, leaning closer to Minsu when he gets more comfortable. ]
I will keep being honest. I don't very well know how to be different. And I believe he has quite the sweet tooth, even if he might not admit it.
[ He looks at Minsu, and then at the rest of the room, more of a wild garden than a bedroom, at this point. At least, for anyone else. ]
He's done this for me. Grew all this in his room so I'd feel like it's mine, too.
[he thinks being on the same page is going to help them in so many ways. minsu scoots over in case hyunki wants to lie down beside him. it's more for the invitation than anything. there's plenty of room.
a sweet tooth then. minsu takes note of that, files it along with the diets and likes of everyone in the house, so he can make something special just for him.]

[he's surprised by that. he assumed it was mostly hyunki's doing. minsu chews on his bottom lip for a moment, worrying about how to put his thoughts into words.]
That's really amazing. I never would've guessed that he had powers like that.
[ Hyunki blushes at the words, pleased by them. He hopes they're true - he wants them to be true. They make his heart feel warm, and he scoots a little closer still, the two of them in the middle of the hammock, comfortable.
Hyunki hums, nodding. ]
I helped them grow. But he brought most of it over. The hammock, too, and most of the blankets and all.
[ He brushes one of the daisies with a toe, smiling as he thinks back of how he felt when he walked in and the room was all greenery. ]
He carries death within him, but he also has a lot of life. He just doesn't get to show it so much.
[minsu lets that sink in for a minute, relaxed by the swaying of the hammock, breathing in the sweet scent of fresh flowers.]
I be he liked having the chance to for a change. [he murmurs.] It's like Sage. The swamp is scary and murky, and so many things just waiting to drag you down into it. But there's also an ecosystem, plants and animals that live their entire lives there. They just call it home.
[ Hyunki throws a look Minsu's way. ] You love Sage, and yet Sage deals with death every day, too. You're not scared of it though, are you?
[ It's an hypothetical. He knows the answer. ]
It's the same for me and Adder. I hope that one day, he shows you, just how full of life he truly is. How much he yearns to be loved. Of course, he has this whole image, that he likes to project. But you know what? He's a giggler.
[minsu doesn't even need to think about it. even if sage can't understand why he isn't. even if no one might understand after what he's seen.

I won't shut him out or treat him any differently. I'll try not to. I know he's not bad. I'm sure we'll get to know each other better - I want to, he's important to you, and you're important to me. So of course I'm looking forward to it.
[ Hyunki grins, pleased to hear those words from Minsu. He's only hoping more people will do the same, will allow Adder in, and vice versa. ]

[he hopes that he's done more than he thinks he has. nothing pleases him more than to think that he's been of help to someone. especially in hyunki's case, when he was hoping for him to have better experiences and make better choices than minsu had.

minsu rests his head against his, thinking for a moment.]

You have. Not only you've steered me in the right way, I think, by making me realize that really, I should be doing this with Adder, and no one else, but you've also brought me supplies! And - this bread was wonderful.

[he'll get there. he likes them more than he probably should, but sage has been understandably reluctant.]

[he lets his leg hang off the side of the hammock, giving them another gentle push.]
I might've been worried for nothing. But, honestly... [minsu looks over at him, slightly bashful with his confession.] If I wasn't with someone, I think I would've volunteered.
[ All things considered, Hyunki might have gotten attached, too. He's attached to Minsu now, after all.
But then, he was right about that. ]
It does feel that way. Destiny is a very real thing for me, and he was put in my path. He showed up for me to help him, and for us to bond. He is - so generous, so gentle, so caring. I needed someone to believe in me, and he needed someone to see past the first layer. I do think we've been thrown together for a reason.
[he remembers talking about it in a general sense with neve once, neve asked him about it. minsu's answer was a mixture of things, of fate and of choices.]
That's what you have to remember on the bad days, knowing that it's worth it. Knowing that he's worth it. That's what will make you stronger.
[all of them, him included. but he doesn't think that it was an inevitable path. so many of them went through things just to get here. and then there was the work that went into the relationships themselves, whether it was friends or lovers. they were all different people living under one roof. they earned this destiny.]

[ He'd been guided here. He'd been brought here, and now he was making a difference, the way he'd always wanted to. It was important to him. ]
We shouldn't be scared. You're right, we have so much strength, here. All of us together. We can do anything, and overcome anything. And, worst comes to worst, we'll find a new safe place. But what matters is that we manage to stay together, right?
[minsu agrees with a smile. this place means so much to him, the first real "home" that he's ever had. there's a fond memory attached to every room. but those memories were made with people that he loves. if it was for them, and with them, he could go back to the life he knew before: running and stealing and surviving.]
No one could ever really take this place from us anyway. The swamp would swallow it up before it handed it over, I know she would.
