he made sure to make a few mental notes to check into things for hyunki and locate all the information he had on trees, spirits and mother nature as a whole.
loneliness had been a companion so long for adder and he never considered it going away. how or why would it? no one spent long in his presence unless they absolutely had to. yet, he confessed to it until - ]

[ letting out a slow breath, he tried to gather up some courage, the nightmares so far from his mind at the moment. ] Can I - can I kiss you?
[ Well, Hyunki's heart was pounding, too. It was hard to keep his breathing as steady as he wanted it to be, with Adder so close, touching him like this. It was making Hyunki's heart trip over itself, this closeness, in a way it never had before. He felt like pressing his knuckles to his sternum, just to check it wasn't actually going to burst right out, especially when Adder moved to cup his cheek the way he did, touching him like nobody ever had before.
There was a lot he wanted to say. There was so much to say, about Adder's loneliness and about the two of them, apparently blooming under each other's gaze. There was so much to say, but Hyunki's words were all so completely stuck in his throat as his eyes drifted down to Adder's lips, and then back up to his eyes. His own lips parted on a soft exhale, and he nodded as he brought his hand to rest on top of Adder's, on his cheek. ]
[ talk about a nearly heart stopping moment with the way hyunki looked at him then. a look he would remember for the rest of his existence and hold onto when things became a little too much. almost as if his entire being might explode from the onslaught of everything he carried onto and within him.
but with hyunki, everything quieted down already and it confused him. it drifted him closer just as the moonflower must towards the moonlight. ]
Okay, I'm - sorry if I'm bad at it. [ he murmured, slowly leaning in just in case hyunki changed his mind and jerked away but if he didn't their lips would slowly press together, adder shifting closer and ever so gently parting his lips.
it took all his sense of self control to not press his lips harder as the spike of energy from the kiss slammed into his body. ]
[ Hyunki had a funny concept of time. Sometimes, when he was meditating, or communing with Nature, it felt like he could not feel it pass anymore. Like he was stuck on a second.
And right now, it feels the same. The wind stopped rustling leaves, owls stopped hooting, crickets stopped moving around. Everything went quiet, but for the sound of Hyunki's rapidly beating heart, and his harsh breaths as he gave up on trying to stay steady.
He didn't change his mind. If anything, he moved closer, meeting Adder in the middle, his fingers squeezing Adder's as their lips touched. For a second, Hyunki could only press back, unsure what else to do, but he felt Adder's lips part against his own and he followed suit, his entire body taken by the onslaught of sensations. His stomach muscles contracted, his free hand moving to the back of Adder's head, Hyunki's whole body yearning to be closer. ]
[ likewise for adder, time stood still and nothing else existed save for the two of them in the present moment. time could be a varied concept for him and nothing he really focused on because how could he? it never moved for him as it did for anyone else and to sense a kind of pause shook him from the inside out.
who knew so much could happen just from a kiss. but it seemed more than a simple kiss, more like the starting of something.
instinct took control for the most part, thankfully, and adder moved his lips a little firmer, tongue slipping into hyunki's mouth to run against his. testing, exploring to see what he might like or not.
sensing the same kind of urgency, he moved forward, almost in hyunki's lap. ]
[ If you'd asked Hyunki, when he arrived to this house, how he would have his first kiss, he would not have answered 'in the middle of the night, on the front porch, with the Ruler of the Underworld'.
That sounded improbable. And yet, here he was, his fingers tightening around a fistful of Adder's hair as he let his body take over, follow the ebb and flow of the kiss, surging forward when Adder pulled back, touching his tongue to Adder's, tracing the seam of his lips with it. It was tentative and slow, but Hyunki had the wild thought that neither of them were being incompetent, right now.
And when Adder moved ever closer, Hyunki couldn't help the soft noise that escaped his mouth, pushing it against Adder's lips as his whole body shuddered with pleasure, his hand moving from holding on to Adder's, to curl over his ribs, fingers digging in through his clothes. ]
[ firsts kisses never really occurred to adder or intimacy of any kind but now he could hardly think of anything else. his mind pieced together all kinds of things, causing something to sputter in his chest. a swoop of his stomach only added to the caught up air of the moment.
he never wanted it to end.
luckily, he did not need to breathe as mortals and could keep moving his lips, hotly, passionately. it rose up in him and the noise from hyunki only made it heighten. he for sure wanted to earn more of those noises and plenty of others.
fully straddling hyunki's waist, he moved his lips a little slower, running his tongue in a careful exploration, nearly as if he couldn't want anything more than the taste of hyunki on his lips.
his hands moved over hyunki's back, over and through his hair, picking up the intensity again. ]
[ Hyunki had dreamt about his first kiss. He'd dreamt about it multiple times, under different scenarios, and never, of course, the one he was in right now. But right now? He felt safe. He felt warm all over, welcoming Adder over his lap when he moved to fully straddle Hyunki, the weight of him feeling like an anchor.
A reminder that this, in fact, was reality. He was kissing someone, being kissed, and it felt - it felt wonderful, like the two of them were the only people in the world, like Hyunki was the only person that mattered to Adder right now, like nothing could disrupt this moment.
Hyunki was not trying to keep his moans in, at this point. They were free-flowing, as he was breathing through his nose, whenever Adder changed the rhythm of did something new, different. Hyunki's hands moved down along Adder's back, stopping just shy of the waistband of his pants, as he felt his own body reaction to the pleasure that was coursing through his veins. ]

just like the moans. for the love of nyx, hyunki would be the actual and literal end of him. groaning in response, adder drew back to press his lips in a messy way over hyunki's face and down his neck before he returned to his lips with an almost whimper.

the heat burned hotter through his veins and it turned the kiss messier, more passionate and a little wetter. ]
[ Hyunki spared a moment to think that, surely, this was what human society, at large, would consider romantic. Kissing under the moonlight, warm and safe in the arms of someone so incredibly special to you, discovering these feelings together. It was probably considered the height of romance, and Hyunki just melted further into Adder's touch, giving back just as much as he was being given, his heart wild in his chest as he kissed Adder with everything he was made of.
He felt light-headed, dizzy with feelings he did not recognize and lack of oxygen and a very strong desire to never stop, his hands fisting into Adder's clothes in the only way he knew how to resist trying to reach for skin, under Adder's layers.
He did not want to rush this. Their bond was something privileged, and extremely dear to him. But then, Adder was kissing his neck, and Hyunki's entire body jerked forward, like he'd been hit by lightning, a choked off noise escaping him. Seems like he's sensitive, here, cheeks heating up even though most of his blood seemed to rush south.
He surged into Adder's kiss again, holding him closer as he responded in kind, but only for a time. He forced himself to pull away, after a moment longer, breathing very hard, his whole body aching for Adder. ]
Wow. I can see why people lose their heads over this.
[ the dizziness they shared, a kind of lightheaded experience he could see why others fought so hard to keep it. to keep bonded and close to someone else. a lot of wars were waged over the many years of existence but at the end of it all love drove everyone forward. the love just took many shapes and sizes. if this could be the beginning of such a devotion, now he understood why.
the shudders he took special note of, filing away the information for later. a sensitive neck - excellent and very helpful for him. he could not say yet where his spots might be other than the obvious ones, of course.
panting when they broke apart, adder's eyes darkened for a flash of a moment, taking on the pure blackness of his real appearance. it meant a loss of control on his part but when he realized, he quickly changed them back into the human like brown he adopted sometimes blue or green depending on his mood at the moment. blue tended to be during momens of happiness.

I know. [ he rasped out, not even recognizing his own voice at the moment with how husky it sounded. ] Are you sure you've never kissed anyone before? [ then to just be playful, he leaned in to bite lightly at hyunki's neck. ]
[ Hyunki could hardly think. He was all sensations - Adder's hands on him, searing hot through his clothing, how swollen his own lips felt, the tingling that started there and ran all throughout his body. The way his fingers ached, still holding on to tightly to Adder. He wanted to kiss him again. And again. And never stop.
But he had to try and keep his head, at least a little. He wanted so much, but he knew this shouldn't be the way to go about it. He didn't want to ruin something potentially beautiful by rushing into things.
So he forced his fingers to unclench, slowly, and rubbed them up and down Adder's back instead, slowly, as he let out a little laugh, blushing furiously. ]
Quite certain. [ He punctuated the words with another moan when Adder went to his neck again, goosebumps rising all over his arms as he tilted his head to give Adder better access. ] This - this feels good.
[ in addition to all the heat and want, adder also had a giddy sort of emotion to join the mix. something lighter and not so bogged down as normal. it drew him closer and left him more open than usual. a kind of thing he wanted to hold onto and also protect if he could.

[ the noises made things a dozen times better for him because it acted like confirmation in a way. on doing things right and doing well, which mattered to him. he wanted to be good at it for hyunki, who seemed to see beyond what he tended to be for most.
